WAEA Avion Awards IFE Survey
19th Annual Avion Awards
17 September 2007, Toronto, Canada
The WAEA Board of Directors has approved a restructured WAEA Avion Awards program, now conducted in partnership with Skytrax. For the first time ever, the Avion Awards will be determined primarily by actual airline passengers voting worldwide via an online satisfaction survey (available in a range of languages) during May and June 2007.
To enter, WAEA member airlines will need only to complete an entry form — no more hours of research and editing of content entries.
The new awards are completely free of charge to WAEA member airlines.
New Award Categories
Avion Award categories have been restructured and new awards created: Best in Region, Best Overall IFE, Best in Technical Achievement, and Best
Achievement in IFE.
The survey-based awards will be:
Best in Region:
• Americas
• Europe
• Middle East and Africa
• Asia and Australasia
There will be two global Best Overall IFE awards:
• Small airlines – up to 25 IFE-equipped in fleet
• Large airlines – over 25 IFE-equipped in fleet
Deadline to enter the survey based awards was 29 April 2007.

— is eligible. Deadline to enter was 1 June 2007.

• Best Achievement in IFE — open to all WAEA member airlines. Any
airline wishing to enter this category must submit a 1,000-word description of
any IFE achievement they have accomplished within the previous 12
months (1 June 2006 - 31 May 2007). This accomplishment can be hardware, software, or content-related.
A jury of peers comprised of representatives from each part of the
IFE community (airline, hardware, software, distributor, lab, and service
company) will evaluate the submissions and determine the award recipient.
Deadline to enter was 22 June 2007.
