Audio Technology For IFE
John Salzman (DMX Inflight), Thomas Mockler (AVID Airline Products), and Michael Feldbauer (Sennheiser Electronic GmbH & Co. KG).

Because video-cassettes remain an essential method for delivering visual entertainment, WAEA Specification 1289-1 (covering video standards) had to be updated, stated Salzman. The document was revised to address new technologies and formats and refine existing standards.

WAEA Specification 1289-2, which will be revised next, must be updated to include the airline CD format and the various compressed audio formats.

Mockler and Feldbauer shared some of the advances inheadphones, including noise reduction and comfort.
