The
Next-Generation Onboard Network
Dr. Sudhakar Shetty (Boeing Commercial Airplane Group)
and Axel Koenig (Airbus), moderated by Rich Salter.
Shetty and Koenig agree that airlines must be actively involved
in developing the requirements and standards for the next
generation of aircraft wiring, especially important with the
introduction of the Airbus A380 and Boeing 7E7.
The new standards must address future aircraft systems, meeting
the needs of airlines, air framers and suppliers, as well
as keeping pace with passenger trends and technology trends.
"For the first time, airlines have the opportunity for a true
plug-and-play IFE standard that provides more revenue space
inside the cabin and more space under the seat," Shetty said.
