More than 100 delegates attended the WAEA Technology Committee (TC) and Working Groups( (WG) meeting in Los Angeles, California 31 July - 2 August 2001. Ninety-five vendor delegates from 56 companies attended with eight airline delegates representing six airlines.

The Digital Content Management Working Group held their initial meeting, establishing their mission and expected deliverables. (This WG meeting was not recorded.) The DCM Working Group will meet on 10 October 2001 in Los Angeles, CA, USA.

Single Focus Workshop on Internet/Intranet/Email

The WAEA Single Focus Workshop was well attended with a total of 138 individuals in attendance, including press and staff. There were 24 airline delegates from 11 airlines and 86 Vendor delegates. The Inflight e-mail and Internet was examined, explored and explained from a variety of angles at the WAEA Single-Focus Workshop. In addition, a new working group was established for Digital Content Management and a white paper was developed and a list of URL addresses relating to off-board infrastructure. Internet Working Group and Wireless Working Group

The WAEA Internet Working Groups ad hoc groups presented White Papers and Matrices at the 7-8 May meeting in Seattle, WA, nearing completion of their mission. Two new Technology Committee Working Groups - Next-Generation Wired Network Working Group and Wireless Working Group (WWG) - set their goals and guidelines for future work.

The ad hoc groups, which developed presentations in preparation of the 5-6 June Single Focus Workshop in Seattle, WA, are: Content and Services, Onboard Infrastructure, Off-Board Infrastructure, and PED Connectivity.
